New Bloomfield, PA (June 24, 2026) — Perry County Economic Development Authority is proud to celebrate Liverpool Main Street for receiving a 2026 Townie Award from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center in the Physical Improvements & Design: Public Space Improvements category for “Cornet Park Public Space Improvements Connecting Park-to-Main.”
The award recognizes Liverpool’s work to transform Cornet Park into a more welcoming and active public gathering space while strengthening the connection between the park and Main Street. The improvements include the custom-designed Cornet Patio, a 40’ x 24’ paved gathering area with pavers forming the outline of a cornet in recognition of Liverpool’s musical heritage, as well as 14 energy-efficient, acorn-shaped streetlights that improve visibility, walkability, and the connection between Cornet Park and downtown.
The Cornet Patio was led by Liverpool Main Street and supported through National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant funds and DCED Keystone Communities funds. The streetlight improvements were led by Liverpool Borough and supported by state funding coordinated through Senator Greg Rothman’s office.
“These improvements show how local leadership, volunteer commitment, and strong partnerships can turn a community vision into visible progress,” said Marti Roberts, PCEDA Board Chair. “Cornet Park is now better positioned to support concerts, seasonal events, family-friendly activities, and everyday use, while reinforcing Liverpool’s identity and sense of place.”
Liverpool Main Street is part of Perry County Hometowns, the regional Main Street program coordinated by the Perry County Economic Development Authority. Perry County Hometowns supports downtown revitalization across participating boroughs through local ambassador leadership, volunteer-driven workplans, and coordinated countywide strategies focused on public spaces, community identity, local businesses, and downtown connections to parks, trails, and open spaces.
Representatives from Liverpool Borough/Main Street and PCEDA attended the June 30 Townie Awards Gala in Erie to accept the award on behalf of the community. For more information about Perry County Hometowns and downtown revitalization work, visit www.perrycountyeda.com.
