Perry County Hometowns brings together nine boroughs working toward a shared goal: stronger, more welcoming downtowns that support local businesses, residents, families, and community life.
Each community has its own character, priorities, opportunities, and local leadership. Perry County Hometowns provides a regional framework that helps communities turn those local priorities into action through project planning, grant support, business and property improvement programs, placemaking, promotion, technical assistance, and connections to partners and resources.
Rather than applying the same approach everywhere, each borough develops priorities based on its needs, opportunities, and capacity. Annual workplans developed with local Ambassadors and community partners help guide projects while connecting each community to Perry County’s broader downtown revitalization strategy.
Local Priorities, Regional Support
Across the nine boroughs, current work is focused around three shared priorities:
Connecting Downtowns to Parks, Trails and Open Spaces
Improving connections, wayfinding, public spaces, streetscapes, public art, and the overall experience of moving between community destinations and downtown businesses.
Making Downtowns Welcoming for Everyday Life and Families
Supporting events, public spaces, business and property improvements, family-friendly activities, and other efforts that make downtowns appealing places to visit, shop, gather, and spend time.
Strengthening Local Food as a Downtown Economic Driver
Creating stronger connections among local producers, restaurants, food entrepreneurs, events, markets, and downtown commercial districts.
These shared priorities provide direction for the regional program while allowing each borough to pursue projects that make sense for its community.
